Copy of an e-mail sent by Frank Anderson, President, Vernon Lawn Bowling Club in response to a Coaches Clinic hosted by BowlsBC and SportsFunder August 23rd, 2008 "Good afternoon Fellow Bowlers,
To begin with Don and John, I wish to thank both of you for presenting the Coaches Clinic to the Interior Clubs' Representatives, who attended the seminar at the Vernon LBC, Saturday August 23rd.
It was much appreciated and the binder of material provided will be of great value to us all for reference purposes, as we put what we learned into practice!
I am pleased to provide copies of the photos I took upon completion of the seminar.
As I do not have all the attendees' email addresses, I am asking those I am sending this message with attachments to, to pass them on to your mates as you likely have the desired info available you to do this.
I have also taken the liberty of passing this message on to members of the Bowls BC Executive, thanking them for providing John Speers and Don Law to us for the purpose of this Coaches Clinic.
It is reassuring to know Bowls BC recognizes its membership and the need for such training in the outlying Regions of the Province.
I am sure all would agree it is more convenient and cost effective for Bowls BC to host such Clinics in this manner.
I look forward to future seminars should they become available.
Again Don and John...simply thank you for your time in addition to sharing your knowledge and experience with us. Best wishes to you both.
Yours in lawn bowling, Frank Anderson, President - VLBC"

Program funded by Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development (Sport and Recreation Branch) and Ministry of Housing and Social Development (posted feb 17/10)
Bowls BC Athlete Assistance Program This announcement is addressed to all BC competitive Bowlers who are members of Canada's National Team; who have represented Canada at World Bowls Events; who as a Junior has participated in the Canadian Junior Championship or who are one of the many training to achieve these goals.
The Province of British Columbia through the Ministry of Community, Sport & Cultural Development have made available funds to help off-set some of the out-of-pocket costs of training. The Sports and Recreation Branch of the Ministry have laid out the guidelines and Bowls BC endorses the action of the Province by participating in this program.
The Program is called Athlete Assistance Program (AAP). Bowls BC has submitted to the Branch the criteria to which we will use in awarding of the funds to Qualified Athletes. This selection criteria is based on a document presented to the Bowls BC Board of Management meeting January 12th, 2008. The members of Bowls BC who put this document together are competitive bowlers. (Michael Sanderson, Mary Wright, Fred Fong and Adam Buckley).
Bowls BC's AAP program is based on Events that occurred during the fiscal year (Apr1-Mar31) of the given funding year.
Bowls BC does not and will not dictate as to how the funds are spent once they have been awarded.
Unfortunately the completed forms cannot be Faxed or e-mailed (**) to Bowls BC but must be sent by Post or personally delivered to a member of the Board or through your regional director. Our Website (Bowlsbc.ca) will be used to publish lists and other announcements and links concerning this program.
** An exception can be made for only those qualified bowlers who are out of the Province at this moment. Bowls BC "Selection Criteria V1.2 " documentation to be read and fully understood before applying. Application Form available for reading and printing in PDF format by clicking "BBC-AAP Application Form ".
